Jordan Staal Trade Rumors

Trade speculation is running rampant when it comes to Jordan Staal of the Pittsburgh Penguins. Staal is a big shutdown center who had much success in the NHL at an early age, winning a Stanley Cup with the Penguins. For years, he has been behind Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin on the center depth charts.

Staal has shown he is fully capable of contributing defensively and offensively. He is no longer content taking the backseat to Crosby and Malkin.  He wants to get top line minutes and play on the power play to showcase his offensive abilities because he wants to be considered for Team Canada at the 2014 Sochi Olympics.

In the 2012 Stanley Cup Playoffs, the 22 year old was the Penguins' most valuable player offensively scoring 6 goals and 3 assists in 9 games played. He is signed until 2012-2013 for a cap hit of $4 million. Look for the Pittsburgh Penguins to move Jordan Staal before the 2013 NHL Trade Deadline.
