2013 NHL Trade Rumors: Kris Letang to Maple Leafs

Kris Letang of the Pittsburgh Penguins is the subject of rampant trade speculation. The defenseman is coming off his best season with 38 points in 35 games. He is signed until the 2013-14 season to a $3.5 million cap hit. The reason for Letang's trade speculation is cap driven. Evgeni Malkin, Sidney Crosby, Marc-Andre Fleury and James Neal take up most of the Penguins' cap space.

General Manager Shero is trying hard to sign the 26 year old offensive defenseman to a cheap contract in the offseason. Letang has rejected all offers and is looking for a huge raise in the neighborhood of $7 million per season. If negotiations continue to go sour, look for Kris Letang to be traded to the Dallas Stars, Detroit Red Wings, Toronto Maple Leafs, New York Islanders or New Jersey Devils.
