David Legwand to a Contender

David Legwand has played 15 seasons with the same team, the Nashville Predators. Such loyalty is rare in today's NHL. His tenure with the Predators is on thin ice. GM David Poile is "shopping Legwand hard" before the trade deadline.

Legwand is a solid #2 centre with 39 points in 57 games this season. He is average offensively and excellent defensively. His contract is worth an annual cap hit of $4.5 million and he is about to become an unrestricted free agent. He has a no-move clause, meaning he decides where he wants to go.

The 33 year old wants to win a Stanley Cup before he retires, making a trade to a contender most likely. Look for the Nashville Predators to trade David Legwand to the St Louis Blues, Chicago Blackhawks, Boston Bruins, LA Kings or Anaheim Ducks in return for a first or second round draft pick.
