The Edmonton Oilers are about to make a bold trade. GM Craig MacTavish is going to deal 26 year old David Perron because of his post game comments after a loss to the New Jersey Devils. Perron specifically called out teammate Justin Schultz and coach Dallas Eakins:

"Something has to change. When you are making those mistakes, something needs to happen. They are the same mistakes we were doing last year. We keep talking about how much better we are this year, but for me it is the same record now that we had last year. It is not better. It's about a full sixty. We need to have accountability from coaches and teammates."

The left winger from Sherbrooke, Quebec has two years left on his contract with an average annual value of $3.8 million. The Oilers are seeking a second line centre. Habs David Desharnais has three years left on his contract with an average annual value of $3.5 million and can also use a change of scenery. The Edmonton Oilers are offering David Perron for the Montreal Canadiens David Desharnais.
