Cody Franson on the Trade Block

nhl trade rumors 2015 toronto maple leafs

Defenseman Cody Franson is on the trade block for the 2015 NHL season. The Toronto Maple Leafs have not shown interest in re-signing Franson, who is an unrestricted free agent. Franson is a good, young defenseman who scored 27 points in 40 games this season. The 27 year old is looking for a long term contract in the average annual range of $5 million.

Last season, the Maple Leafs attempted to trade Franson to the Canadiens for Josh Gorges, but the deal fell through because Gorges refused to waive his no-trade clause to go to the Leafs. The Maple Leafs are likely to deal Franson for picks or prospects before the trade deadline. The Montreal Canadiens, Edmonton Oilers, Dallas Stars, Colorado Avalanche and LA Kings are interested in acquiring Cody Franson.
