Rumor: Max Pacioretty for Ryan McDonagh

Rumors of a trade occurring between the Canadiens and Rangers have Not been uncommon recently. However most rumors involved 24-year old Alex Galchenyuk heading to the big apple.

This time however it is Eklund of Hockeybuzz reporting that the two teams were in talks of a trade involving Max Pacioretty and Ryan McDonagh.

On the Rangers' side, Pacioretty could bring a lot of offensive punch to the team, but it doesn't help their issue with center depth. Either way, Pacioretty has scored 30+ goals in each of the last five seasons if we negate the lockout-shortened season.

Heading to Montreal would be a an excellent shut-down left handed defenseman. However what Montreal could use is an offensive defenseman. That said McDonagh paired with Weber could be the best shut-down defensive pairing in the league, and the Rangers top line with Zuccarelo, Zibanejad, and now Pacioretty would certainly give an much stronger offensive punch.
