Rumor: Philadelphia Flyers & Florida Panthers Finalizing Trade Deal

The Florida Panthers have only played two games this season, but Keith Yandle has been on fire in both performances. After allegedly blocking a three-way trade GM Bill Zito is still keen on trading the 34 year old blueliner.

The hockey world was upside down when it appears Keith Yandle would be a healthy scratch, ending his active ironman streak. Fortunately this did not happen, but perhaps it has left a bad taste in his mouth. The Boston native is apparently willing to waive his no-trade clause to play on a limited number of teams, including the Philadelphia Flyers. He would be reunited with friend and former teammate, Kevin Hayes.

Jimmy Murphy of FHN reports that there have been trade talks linking Shayne Gostisbehere of the Flyers to the Florida Panthers. The South Florida Native has publicly voiced his frustration in the past and he continues to underperform his $4.5 million cap hit. Yandle of the Panthers may be willing to be traded to a Stanley Cup contender, which some consider the Flyers to be.

The Flyers have $1.322 million in cap space, therefore the Panthers will have to retain some of Yandle's $6.35 million cap hit. The Flyers have some leverage knowing the Panthers relationship with Yandle has soured, but they will surely need to offer some picks to make it worth Zito's while.
