NHL Rumors: Insider Reveals What Teams Are Offering For Blackhawks' Lukas Reichel

Chicago Blackhawks forward Lukas Reichel reacts during 2025 game.

The Chicago Blackhawks appear ready to move on from forward Lukas Reichel, as trade discussions around the former first-round pick intensify.

According to Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman on 32 Thoughts: The Podcast, multiple teams have offered late-round draft picks for Reichel, with Chicago exploring its best possible return.

Friedman noted that there’s “no shortage of interest,” but added that the Blackhawks are being patient as they gauge the market before committing to a deal.

Teams Offering Late-Round Picks for Blackhawks’ Lukas Reichel

At just 23 years old, Reichel has been one of the most discussed names on the trade block in recent weeks. Once viewed as a core piece of Chicago’s rebuild, the former 17th overall pick has struggled to secure a consistent top-six role under head coach Jeff Blashill.

His offensive instincts and playmaking ability haven’t meshed well with the defensive structure the Blackhawks are trying to establish, leaving him in an awkward middle ground: too talented for a bottom-six assignment but unable to crack the team’s top lines.

Insider Frank Seravalli reported that Chicago has been “actively shopping” Reichel, expecting a deal “likely before next week” with a return projected in the mid-to-late-round range.

Reichel’s value has dipped after an underwhelming 2024–25 season in which he recorded eight goals and 22 points in 70 games. Despite that, his age, speed, and track record in the AHL, where he posted back-to-back 50-point seasons, have kept other teams interested.

Several clubs in need of offensive upside and low-cost depth have reportedly reached out, including potential suitors like the Montreal Canadiens, Carolina Hurricanes, and Vegas Golden Knights.
