Devils: Best Addition & Worst Subtraction Of 2025 NHL Offseason

Evgenii Dadonov, New Jersey Devils

The NHL season is just about here, which is undoubtedly exciting news for hockey fans. Due to this, we here at NHL Trade Rumors will be starting a series looking at each team's best addition and worst subtraction of the 2025 NHL off-season.

In this latest edition of the series, we will be looking at the New Jersey Devils.

Best Addition: Evgenii Dadonov

One of the Devils' top objectives this off-season was to improve their secondary scoring, and signing Evgenii Dadonov should help with that. The 36-year-old forward is coming off a solid season with the Dallas Stars in 2024-25, as he posted 20 goals and 40 points in 80 games. If he can put up numbers like these for the Devils this season, he could end up being a very solid addition to their group.

Worst Subtraction: Brian Dumoulin

The Devils did not have any major subtractions this offseason, but they did lose a solid defenseman in Brian Dumoulin to the Los Angeles Kings in free agency. With the Devils having plenty of defensive depth, it was understandable that they did not re-sign Dumoulin. However, he still proved to be a nice rental for the Devils this past season.
