NHL Rumors: Canucks & Jets Emerging as Potential Trade Partners

Jake DeBrusk, Vancouver Canucks

The Vancouver Canucks will be a team to watch very closely during the offseason. With the Canucks in the middle of a rebuild and finishing this season as the NHL's worst team, it is very possible that they will move on from more of their players during the offseason.

The Jets, meanwhile, should be looking to add to their roster after underperforming this campaign and missing the playoffs in the weak Western Conference. One of their biggest needs is a top-six winger, as they have never found a replacement for Nikolaj Ehlers.

With the Jets in need of another skilled winger, they should strongly consider making a push for Canucks forward Jake DeBrusk during the summer.

DeBrusk was a very popular name in the rumor mill leading up to the deadline, and the Canucks are expected to listen to offers for him again during the summer. With this, the Jets would be wise to kick tires on the 29-year-old winger.

If the Jets acquired DeBrusk from the Canucks, he would have the potential to give their top six a nice boost. When looking at Winnipeg's lineup, DeBrusk could be a strong fit on their second line with Cole Perfetti and Adam Lowry. He would also give them a clear option for their power play if acquired.

With this, the Jets should be a team to watch when it comes to DeBrusk this summer. The fit looks good on paper.
