Free Agent Patrick Kane Signing With 1 of 2 Teams
Patrick Kane hits the open market on Wednesday, and all signs are pointing to him leaving the Detroit Red Wings.
While Kane may not be the player he once was in Chicago, with the Red Wings last season, the future hall-of-fame winger put up some great numbers, posting 57 points in 67 games. He's the perfect complement to a contenders top six and can put up numbers in a hurry on the power play.
Heading into free agency, there's going to be a number of teams interested in signing Kane, who is likely to land a one, or two-year contract, and while there's going to be multiple offers coming his way, speculation is brewing that he's considering only the Buffalo Sabres and Toronto Maple Leafs.
The Sabres lost Alex Tuch, and have a giant hole at right wing among their top six. Kane, a Buffalo native, could be the type of hometown here the team needs to get the Sabres back into the playoffs and once again making noise.
The Leafs have Gavin McKenna on the way, but they also need a right winger for their top six, as William Nylander is essentially on an island at this point. While the Leafs are left-shot heavy, adding Kane, who can play his off wing is something the team is interested in.
Keep an eye on Kane, he's going to be leaving Motown, and it sounds like his free-agent decision is down to the Leafs or Sabres.
Could Patrick Kane leave Detroit for a homecoming in Buffalo?
