3 Potential Destinations For Journeyman Alex Galchenyuk

One interesting free agent still available is forward Alex Galchenyuk. The 27-year-old has played for six different organizations over the past four seasons, so it is fair to say that he has become a journeyman. There is also a very good chance that he will be adding a seventh team to his resume, too. The Maple Leafs appear to be going in a different direction after signing forwards Nick Ritchie and Ondrej Kase.

With Toronto, Galchenyuk was able to regroup, as he scored four goals and recorded 12 points in 26 games. In eight games with the Ottawa Senators earlier in the season, he only scored a goal, so this was a bit unexpected. Yet, he showed the league that he can still be a nice middle-six forward who can play both center and on the wing.

Here are three potential fits for him.

New Jersey Devils: The New Jersey Devils have been very aggressive this off-season so far. They've added Dougie Hamilton, Ryan Graves and Tomas Tatar. It is clear that they are aiming to compete more next season, so why not add another player in Galchenyuk? He would be able to slot on their second or third-line rather easily and could be a nice addition to their power play. They also have over $14 million of cap space left, so they could afford him easily.

Buffalo Sabres: Although the Buffalo Sabres are rebuilding, they have over $28 million to work with and need to hit the cap floor. Signing with a team like Buffalo may also offer Galchenyuk to receive the chance to get a multi-year deal. He would be a key forward there, as they have already traded Sam Reinhart and will be trading Jack Eichel soon. Although he wouldn't win there, he would be able to play a ton.

Columbus Blue Jackets: The Columbus Blue Jackets could use a little help on offense and Galchenyuk would provide that. Like with a potential Devils' signing, Galchenyuk would likely be able to slot in their middle-six. This would be the case whether he plays center or left wing. Although Columbus appears to rebuilding, it is never a bad thing to add a little experience to the lineup.
