NHL Rumors: 2 St Louis Blues Not Expected Back Next Season

The St Louis Blues had their hearts broken by Colorado Avalanche forward Darren Helm, as the veteran grinder scored the series-clinching goal in the dying seconds of Game 6. So close, yet so far away, Blues management now turns to the offseason to figure out just how the roster will be constructed next season. Let's take a look at three Blues who are likely finished in St Louis:

Ville Husso

It was a weird dynamic with the Blues this postseason as the team was torn on which goaltender to trust. Jordan Binnington ended up going down with an injury, giving Ville Husso his chance to shine. Unfortunately that wasn't the case at all, as the 27-year-old struggled throughout the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Husso is one of the more interesting free agents on the market as he doesn't have a ton of NHL experience and he's coming off a contract making $750,000. He appeared in seven Stanley Cup playoff games and recorded a 3.67 GAA and a .890 save %. Quite frankly, not good enough. Expect to see the Blues stick with Binnington moving forward from here.

Nick Leddy

Offensive defenseman are hard to find these days and Nick Leddy just happens to be one of the best in the business as he should expect to receive a ton of interest on the free-agent market come July 13. Leddy was acquired midseason by the Blues and appeared in 20 regular season games recording eight points, meanwhile chipped in with five points in nine Stanley Cup playoff games. Two seasons ago Leddy had 31 points in 56 games and you can bet his agent will be reminding general managers of this in early July.
