NHL Rumors: Maple Leafs Have Discussed Multiple Trades

Toronto Maple Leafs general manager Kyle Dubas has been busy early on this season as his roster has been hampered with injuries and unperforming depth players. It's no secret the Maple Leafs GM has been making trade calls trying to upgrade his hockey team.

Apart from Wayne Simmonds being available to all other teams, the Maple Leafs have been rumored to be open to moving one of Pierre Engvall or Alexander Kerfoot. Both pending free-agent forwards have struggled to start the 2022-23 campaign as Engvall has scored once in 13 games, meanwhile Kerfoot once in 14 games.

With Toronto having cap issues and some uncertainty on defense and in goal, Dubas is trying to create some more flexibility to add another defenseman and potentially some more goaltender depth. The recent news surrounding both Matt Murray and Ilya Samsonov appears to be positive, so the Leafs attention is likely on adding a defenseman.

Once American Thanksgiving comes around, NHL teams have a better sense of where they stand, and the buyers and sellers tend to become more apparent. You can put the Maple Leafs in both categories as Dubas is open to just about anything at this point.
