Insider Links 3 Teams To Red Wings' Tyler Bertuzzi

The Detroit Red Wings have engaged in contract extension talks with Tyler Bertuzzi, but it appears as though they haven't gone anywhere. The Red Wings are likely looking at what Bertuzzi has done lately and if he will continue to struggle to produce after his injuries whereas the winger is probably wanting a bigger payday based on his past seasons.

As it doesn't appear as though the two sides are going to get anything done anytime soon and the Red Wings are likely going to be sellers at the deadline to set the stage for the summer, Bertuzzi could be their best trade chip. The team already has many replacements that can move up the lineup and be more effective in that role moving forward.

Jeff Marek has indicated that a few teams have been linked to Bertuzzi, including most notably the Dallas Stars, but also the Edmonton Oilers and Tampa Bay Lightning.

The Stars are looking for a top-six player and will take either a winger or centerman. Tyler Seguin can play both positions on the Stars' second line, so they don't need to be insanely picky. Patrick Kane is on their radar, but Bertuzzi has a nasty style of play that could be well suited for the postseason and could get going offensively with a change in scenery.

The Oilers appear to be working on a big time trade. There's reports they are seriously linked to Patrick Kane and Erik Karlsson. As both of those would be difficult to pull off and there aren't any guarantees, the Oilers could also look to add someone a little cheaper that will still do the trick alongside the best offence in the league. Bertuzzi could definitely get going offensively alongside the league's top scorers.

As for the Lightning, they are looking to add a forward, but also likely a defenceman. They don't have much cap space to work with, so it could get tricky to add someone like Bertuzzi with a cap hit of $4.75 million, even if 50 percent is retained. A solution is to send Vladislav Namestnikov the other way to help with the cap.

Bertuzzi is likely on the move at the deadline and he could likely land on one of these three playoff-bound teams.
