Montreal Canadiens Rumors: Veteran Defenseman Linked to Jets

Montreal Canadiens defenseman Joel Edmundson is one of the top defensemen currently available before the 2023 NHL Trade Deadline. Due to this, there are several teams linked to the veteran, but now a new team has entered the picture. According to The Fourth Period, the Winnipeg Jets are now being linked to Edmundson.

After a rough 2021-22 season where they missed the playoffs, the Jets have turned things around quite well in 2022-23 and are expected to be buyers at the deadline because of it. It is clear that they are one of the top teams in the Western Conference, but they also would benefit from adding to their defensive group as they gear up for the playoffs. This is especially true with their left side, and Edmundson's steady play would give it the boost that it needs.

Edmundson could be a nice addition to the Jet's top-six defensive group, as he is a solid defensive defenseman while playing at his best and plays an immensely physical game in the process. We will now need to wait and see if the Jets end up acquiring him before the trade deadline passes from here.
