Report: Winnipeg Jets Trade Logan Stanley & Luke Schenn to Buffalo Sabres

The Buffalo Sabres and Winnipeg Jets are cooking up a huge deadline deal, which sees both Luke Schenn and Logan Stanley heading to Buffalo.

Both defencemen were late scratches on Thursday night against the Tampa Bay Lightning for 'roster management' purposes, and just like that, The Fourth Period's David Pagnotta is reporting both Jets' blueliners are on their way to Buffalo.

Both Schenn and Stanley are pending unrestricted free agents at the end of the season, and after the Sabres missed on Colton Parayko, they turned their attention to the Jets. Schenn and Stanley bring size and grit to Buffalo's lineup, and Stanley also has scored a career high nine goals this season, after just five total in his first five NHL seasons.

The Sabres have been busy Thursday night, as they also acquired Sam Carrick from the New York Rangers. You can tell with these types of additions, the Sabres are trying to get much tougher to play against, in what they hope is a long Stanley Cup Playoff run.

The Jets on the other hand, they aren't really expected to do much else ahead of Friday's deadline. Teams continue to call about veteran center Jonathan Toews, but he's made it clear he has no intention of opening up to a trade, and leaving Winnipeg this season.

We'll see if Pagnotta's report comes through, but for now, it certainly looks like this deal will be finalized.
