Report: Jason Robertson Rejects Insane Offer From Seattle Kraken

The Jason Robertson drama just reached insane new heights. The Dallas Stars' restricted free agent remains a prime trade candidate after turning down an absolutely insane offer from the Seattle Kraken.

Insider Elliotte Friedman reports this evening that the Kraken were granted permission to speak with the Stars' 40-goal sniper about a potential sign-and-trade. Seattle offered him an eight-year contract at a $15 million AAV. He rejected the offer.
It’s believed the two teams had worked out some kind of trade before the permission was granted, apparently including Seattle’s first-round pick — seventh overall in Friday’s draft.

The Kraken are starved for offensive punch up front, and have taken big swings on any big scorer that comes on the market. They offered a $14 million AAV to Artemi Panarin this past season when the NY Rangers had him on the trade block, but the Bread Man chose to go to the Los Angeles Kings instead (and settled for $11M AAV).

Friedman says that Robertson and the Stars remain about $2 million apart in extension talks, with Dallas not wanting to go past the $12 million AAV that they signed Mikko Rantanen to last year. Robertson is looking for at least $14 million from Dallas, and potentially more from other teams.

Fellow insider Pierre LeBrun followed up on Friedman's report by saying that the Stars have now circled back to other teams that had been interested in trading for the All-Star winger. And they haven't given up on trying to come to terms with their own RFA yet, either.
