Toronto Maple Leafs Place Veteran Forward On Waivers

The Toronto Maple Leafs have placed veteran winger Wayne Simmonds on waivers.

This is familiar territory for Simmonds, as the Maple Leafs have already placed him on waivers two other times this campaign. In both instances, he cleared, but now we will need to wait and see if that occurs for a third straight time.

Simmonds could garner some interest on the waiver wire if a team is looking for some forward depth. The 34-year-old still provides plenty of grit and toughness at this juncture of his career, and he carries an affordable $900,000 cap hit. However, he also has not made the biggest impact offensively with the Maple Leafs this campaign, as he has one assist in 13 games played.

Nevertheless, we will need to wait and see what happens with Simmonds from here. If he clears waivers, he will continue to serve as a call-up/depth option for the Maple Leafs from here.

In 1,032 career NHL games, Simmonds has 263 goals, 262 assists, and 525 points.
