3 Best Contracts On The New Jersey Devils

The New Jersey Devils have had a disappointing season, but that hasn't been the case for some of the offensive talent. While the offense has done its job for the most part, there is still a lot of confidence for the future of this team with some of these talented players locked in, so let's take a look at the best contracts on New Jersey this season.

Jack Hughes

Jack Hughes is one of the most skilled players in the NHL and would be a 100 point scorer by now if he could stay healthy. He is very dynamic and does everything a team could want from its star player. Hughes has missed a number of games this season, but still leads all current players on the team with 26 goals to go along with his 72 points in 60 games. He averages nearly 21 minutes per game and is under contract through 2030 at $8 million AAV. It is an absolute steal right now and will look incredibly good by the end of it while he has played through his prime.

Nico Hischier

Nico Hischier is another star on the team that can play very well at both ends of the ice. He can be a point-per-game player, but it doesn't take away from his value if he isn't either. This season the captain has 25 goals and 62 points in 65 games, but for a top line center, is making just $7.25 million AAV for another three years and is only 25 years old.

Jesper Bratt

The third player aged 25 or younger that the Devils have on a good contract is Jesper Bratt. While you could argue that Hughes and Hischier are on better contracts, it's hard to deny that a point-per-game player through 76 games of the season isn't worth $7.875 million AAV when he's not even in his prime yet. Bratt is the leading scorer on the team and has scored at least 25 goals and 73 points in three consecutive seasons now. He is locked in at this cap hit through 2031, so this is just going to look better and better as the years go on.
