Stars Rumors: One Name Gaining Traction To Be Dallas' Next Head Coach
With Pete DeBoer officially out in Dallas after a third straight Western Conference Final exit, speculation has quickly turned to veteran coach Peter Laviolette as a potential replacement, as noted by Daily Faceoff's Frank Seravalli.
Laviolette, fired by the New York Rangers in April, is reportedly eager to prove last season’s collapse wasn’t on him. His track record suggests he could be the veteran presence the Stars need to finally push through to the Stanley Cup Final.
Frank Seravalli: Wondering about Peter Laviolette for the Stars. Veteran coach that has won a lot. Always very successful in his first year.

Laviolette Emerges as Top Candidate for Stars Head Coaching Job
Laviolette isn't a developmental coach, and that’s exactly why he might be the perfect fit. He’s a known “turnaround master” whose teams often see instant success. He took the New York Rangers to a Presidents’ Trophy and Eastern Conference Final in his first season, and previously led three different franchises — the Carolina Hurricanes, Philadelphia Flyers, and Nashville Predators — to the Stanley Cup Final, winning it all with Carolina in 2006.
With Dallas built to win now and GM Jim Nill looking for a fresh voice, Laviolette’s mix of structure and postseason savvy checks a lot of boxes.
Hot take: of the coaches available, Peter Laviolette has the best odds to get the stars over the finish line.

First year Laviolette is pretty pretty good. https://t.co/PuS8dboA7V
While Dallas has been linked to a wide range of options — including Steve Ott, Gerard Gallant, Glen Gulutzan, and rising AHL coaches like Neil Graham — Laviolette offers a clear path to immediate results.
According to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, Laviolette still has the itch to coach and wants to prove he wasn’t the problem in New York. For a Stars team loaded with veteran talent and Stanley Cup aspirations, Laviolette might just be the experienced bench boss who can deliver the final push they’ve been missing.
