New Jersey Devils place Marc McLaughlin on waivers
The New Jersey Devils were busy on Wednesday, as the team announced they've waived forward Marc McLaughlin.
The 26-year-old was put on waivers with the purpose to send him down to the American Hockey League's Utica Comets. We'll see if he clears by 2pm Thursday, as McLaughlin is now available to all 31 teams to claim, with the worst team in the league, Vancouver Canucks, getting first crack at making a claim.
McLaughlin hasn't suited up for the Devils this season, after he suffered an injury during a preseason game against the New York Islanders back in September. He's just now becoming available to play, hence the need for a roster move with the Devils at the cap for NHL roster slots.
McLaughlin is a Massachusetts native and was traded to the Devils last March in a pre-deadline deal with the Boston Bruins. He dressed in two games with the Devils last season.
In 14 NHL games, he's scored two goals, and added one assist for three points. This came back in the 2024-25 season. In 50 games last season in the AHL, McLaughlin posted five goals and 15 assists, for 20 points.
McLaughlin is under contract this season for $775,000. In 28 career NHL games, McLaughlin has scored six goals and seven points. In 185 AHL contests, he's registered 26 goals and 38 assists for 64 points, adding a goal in eight Calder Cup Playoff games.
