Flames Rumors: 3 Offseason Trade Destinations for Blake Coleman
Leading up to the 2026 NHL trade deadline, Calgary Flames forward Blake Coleman was one of the NHL's most-talked-about trade candidates. However, in the end, the Flames elected to hold on to him instead of moving.
However, with Coleman having plenty of trade value and entering the final year of his contract in 2026-27, it is certainly possible that he could get moved this offseason. Because of this, let's look at three offseason trade destinations for Coleman.
Montreal Canadiens
The Canadiens were one of the teams most connected to Coleman leading up to the deadline. When noting that the Canadiens are a young team on the rise, they certainly would benefit by adding a veteran like Coleman to their roster this summer. He would fit nicely in their top nine, as he is a hard-nosed forward who can play multiple positions, chips in offensively, and can kill penalties.
Tampa Bay Lightning
The Lightning have shown that they are not afraid to reunite with their former players over the years. With this, it would not be particularly surprising if they made a push for Coleman this offseason. He was an outstanding fit during his two-year stint with them and, of course, won the Stanley Cup with them in 2020 and 2021. Thus, the Bolts could be a team to watch when it comes to Coleman this summer.
New Jersey Devils
The Devils could be another team to watch when it comes to Coleman. They know him well, as he played his first four NHL seasons with them. However, more importantly, they desperately need to improve their forward depth and secondary scoring. As a result of this, Coleman would be a very good player for them to add this summer.
