Mancini has appeared in 18 games this season with the Canucks, where he has zero points, 22 blocks, 22 hits, and a minus-10 rating. He has spent most of this season at the American Hockey League (AHL) level with the Abbotsford Canucks, however, where he has recorded four goals, eight assists, 12 points, and a plus-1 rating.
Mancini was acquired by the Canucks this past season in the blockbuster trade that sent star forward J.T. Miller to the New York Rangers. Since then, Mancini has posted one goal, two assists, three points, 43 blocks, and 46 hits in 34 games with Vancouver over two seasons.
At just 23 years old, Mancini is a young defenseman who is still working on his development. The potential for him to become a solid NHL blueliner is there, and there is no real harm in the Canucks keeping him around at that low of a price. It will now be interesting to see how much of an impact he can make with the Canucks after landing this new multi-year contract extension from here.
