Carolina, New Jersey Make Trade Offers for Jets' Connor Hellebuyck

The Connor Hellebuyck sweepstakes have been going on for months, and with the lack of movement to advance trade talks, the Vezina trophy winner goaltender felt he needed to go public with his demands, in hopes of moving a trade to the finish line.

According to multiple reports, the Carolina Hurricanes and New Jersey Devils are two teams who have heavily involved in the process, and continue to negotiate deals with the Jets. Hellebuyck has a full no-movement clause and five years left on his contract, but according to someone close to him, would accept a trade to either Carolina or New Jersey.

Let's start with the Devils, they've gone the cost-effective route in net this summer, but new GM Sunny Mehta is open to making a splash. The Devils are likely offering a first-rounder, goaltender Nico Daws, defensive prospect Seamus Casey, and young forward Dawson Mercer. The money would still be tight, so we'll see if Mehta can pull off this mini-miracle. 

Out of Carolina, they have close to $10 million in cap space, which is quite impressive for a recent Stanley Cup winner. They also have two goaltenders in Brandon Bussi and Pyotr Kochetkov, who would be involved in this deal, along with restricted free-agent defenceman Alexander Nikishin, and former second-rounder, Ivan Ryabkin.

While the Hurricanes and Devils are certainly involved, expect to see trade offers made from the Florida Panthers, San Jose Sharks, Vegas Golden Knights, Colorado Avalanche, and Buffalo Sabres. If the Jets can't pull this off before training camp, Cheveldayoff should be fired.
