Goalie of the year - 2011 Vezina Trophy predictions

Who will be the goaltender of the year for the 2010-2011 NHL season? With so many good goalies to choose from this year, it is difficult to predict who takes home the coveted Vezina. Here are my favorites for the Vezina.

Boston Bruins - Tim Thomas - 15W 4L 3OT SV%.948
Montreal Canadiens - Carey Price - 18W llL 2OT SV%.925
Detroit Red Wings - Jimmy Howard - 17W 6L 2OT SV%.911
Los Angeles Kings - Jonathan Quick - 16W 7L 1OT SV%.929
Vancouver Canucks - Roberto Luongo - 16W 8L 2OT SV%.914
Atlanta Thrashers - Ondrej Pavelec - 12W 6L 3OT SV%.943
Anaheim Ducks - Jonas Hiller - 16W 12L 3OT SV%.923

The Thrashers have emerged as a force to be reckoned with this season and currently have 19 Wins, 12 Losses, and 5 OT, sitting at 5th place in the Eastern Conference. One of the keys to the turnaround, was trading for former Black Hawk players such as Dustin Byfuglien. Another key has been the play of their rookie goaltender, Pavelec.

Carey Price started the pre-season with "boos" from Canadiens' fans. Price said that fans should not worry about his shaky pre-season play because he will be ready come the regular season. Price was true to his word. His play has been stellar, putting his team in 3rd place in the Eastern Conference.

Finally, there is Tim Thomas of the Bruins. He won the Vezina Trophy in 2009. Then struggled in the 2010 NHL season. He looks to have recaptured his Vezina winning form in 2011. One of the goaltenders on this list should win the 2011 Vezina Trophy.
