Pavel Kubina Trade Rumors

The Tampa Bay Lightning are shopping Pavel Kubina for the 2012 NHL season. Kubina becomes an unrestrictred free agent on July 1st and is coming off a contract with a cap hit of $3.85 million. The Lightning are near the salary cap with nothing to show for it, having fallen to the bottom of the Eastern Conference standings.

GM Steve Yzerman has asked Kubina for a list of teams he is willing to waive his no trade clause in order to be traded. Kubina is not practicing or playing in games because Yzerman wants him to remain healthy. A major announcement is expected soon. The St Louis Blues, Chicago Blackhawks and Philadelphia Flyers are interested in acquiring Pavel Kubina before the 2012 NHL Trade Deadline.
