NHL Trade Rumors: Jaromir Jagr Reunites with Claude Giroux

The Dallas Stars were lucky to acquire Jaromir Jagr from free agency, signing him to a one year $4.55 million cap hit contract. Jagr has performed remarkably well this season for a player who is 41 years old. He has 25 points in 31 games and is a legitimate threat every night. The right winger may have lost some speed with age, but he still has great hockey sense. He knows to go to the slot and get open for a quick shot to beat the opponent's goalie.

The Philadelphia Flyers are interested in reuniting Jaromir Jagr with Claude Giroux. According to Pierre LeBrun, "Crazy thought from one NHL team executive on Tuesday: Would the Flyers make a pitch to bring Jagr back to Philadelphia to play with Claude Giroux? Seems odd for the Flyers -- who aren't in a playoff spot -- to make a play for a rental player. But Jagr was such a good fit for Giroux last season ... Stranger things have happened."

The Flyers would need to shed significant salary for this to happen because they are at the cap ceiling currently. It is more likely Jaromir Jagr is traded to the Chicago Blackhawks, Anaheim Ducks, Montreal Canadiens or Boston Bruins before the 2013 trade deadline. Next season is probably going to be his last and hoisting one more Stanley Cup would be a great way to end his Hall of Fame career.
