The Winnipeg Jets are facing more than $152 million worth of future contract demands from three key players who are in the final year of their contracts.

Jets captain Andrew Ladd demanded a six year contract worth $41 million. Defenseman Dustin Byfuglien demanded an eight year contract worth $55 million. Defenseman Jacob Trouba demanded an eight year contract worth $56 million. If the opening demands for Ladd, Byfuglien and Trouba are the final numbers, Ladd’s new cap hit would be $6.8 million, Byfuglien’s $6.875 million and Trouba’s $7 million.

GM Kevin Cheveldayoff has not commented on the progress of contract negotiations. Ladd and Byfuglien could become UFAs on July 1, 2016 while Trouba could be a RFA. Forwards Mark Scheifele and Adam Lowry are also in the final years of entry-level deals and goalie Michael Hutchinson could become a RFA.
