Report: Flyers trade Lecavalier, Schenn to Kings

nhl trade vinny lecavalier luke schenn

Multiple sources confirm that the Philadelphia Flyers have traded forward Vinny Lecavalier and defenseman Luke Schenn to the Los Angeles Kings. In exchange, the Flyers receive top prospect Jordan Weal and a third round draft pick.

The Flyers are retaining 50% of the salary on both contracts - $2.25M AAV for Lecavalier and $1.8M AAV for Schenn. With defenseman Matt Greene injured, Schenn will get a chance to play on the bottom pairing for the Kings. Schenn's deal ends after this season.

According to TVA, Lecavalier intends on retiring at the end of this season, eliminating his cap hit for 2016-2018. Thus, both contracts will not affect the Kings' cap after this season. What's your opinion of this trade?
