NHL Trade Rumors: Kevin Shattenkirk to New York Rangers

The New York Rangers recently made a big trade, moving Derick Brassard and a seventh-round pick in 2018 to the Ottawa Senators for center Mika Zibanejad and a 2018 second-round pick. The Rangers are looking to make another big splash this offseason for defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk.

St Louis Blues GM Doug Armstrong wanted to trade 27 year old Shattenkirk during the NHL draft for a return of high draft picks and/or top young forwards. Failing to find any buyers, Armstrong instead brought back winger David Perron and center Vladimir Sobotka.

Rangers GM Jeff Gorton has decided to go all-in on Shattenkirk since the Rangers desperately need a young, puck-moving defenseman. Gorton is prepared to offer Rick Nash or Chris Kreider for Shattenkirk. It's likely the Blues will try and squeeze a prospect or pick out of the Rangers in addition to a roster player.
