Columbus Blue Jackets left winger Matt Calvert proved why hockey players are the toughest athletes on the planet on Friday. During a game against the New York Rangers, Calvert took a Nick Holden slap shot to the face.

It left a pool of blood on the ice, and required 30 stitches to patch up. After passing a concussion test, Calvert returned to the game and scored the game winning, short handed goal, giving the Blue Jackets a 4-2 victory.
