NHL Trade Rumors: Martin Hanzal to Montreal Canadiens

Trade rumors surround the Arizona Coyotes and center Martin Hanzal. Multiple sources say several teams are interested in acquiring Hanzal, including the Montreal Canadiens, St. Louis Blues and San Jose Sharks.

The Habs are seeking a second line center because Tomas Plekanec is struggling (1 goal, 4 assists) to start the season. Plekanec is good defensively as he currently sits in the top 5 for goals against per 60 minutes 5 on 5, but the Habs need more production from their second line center to be able to contend for the Stanley Cup.

Hanzal, who is 6'6" and 222 lbs, scored 41 points last year on a weak Coyotes team. Playing him with Max Pacioretty and Brendan Gallagher, he could very well have a career year. The Montreal Canadiens are one of seven teams Hanzal has waived his no trade clause for. The Arizona Coyotes are asking for a young NHL ready player in return.
