The Dallas Stars currently sit seven points out of the last wild card spot in the Western Conference. It’s been a poor season for them. This play where the Stars score into their own net on a delayed penalty before a power play sums up their season.

In the second period, Zack Smith of the Ottawa Senators was given a tripping minor and goalie Kari Lehtonen went to the Dallas bench for the extra forward. The Stars started to advance the puck when center Jiri Hudler made the decision to drop the puck back to his teammates. But the puck went between defensemen Dan Hamhuis and John Klingberg and into the empty net.

The blooper own goal cost the Stars the game as they ended up losing to the Senators 3-2.
