San Jose Sharks re-sign veteran forward

Joe Thornton just got his birthday present since the San Jose Sharks have re-signed him to a one-year, $8,000,000 contract.

At 38, Thornton still has a lot of potential notching 50+ points per season. During his career, Thornton has only had 3 seasons where he was under the 50 point mark, his rookie (7 points in 55 games played), his second NHL season (41 points in 81 games) and the 2005-06 season where he scored 9 goals and 33 points in 23 games played.

Is this a good signing for the Sharks?
