BREAKING: Flames acquire veteran defenseman from New Jersey

It seems Calgary is still not satisfied with their defensive depth, and has made a trade with New Jersey to address that.

The Calgary Flames acquired Dalton Prout from the New Jersey Devils in exchange for goaltender Eddie Lack.

Prout adds a good amount of size and toughness to a Flames team with a lot of smaller players up front, and he will give some veteran leadership as well. The 27-year old was drafted 154th overall by the Columbus Blue Jackets in 2010, and has collected 36 points in 242 games with the Blue Jackets and Devils in that time.

Going back the other way is a goaltender that has struggled mightily since leaving the Vancouver Canucks in the 2015 off-season. The 29 year old has played in 139 games with Calgary, Vancouver and Caroline, and has a 2.61 GAA and a .909 save percentage.

Was this a smart trade by either team? Do you see Lack returning to form like he was in 2015 with Vancouver? Comment below.
