BREAKING: Derick Brassard Has Been Traded!

Well it's official, Derick Brassard has been traded away by the Ottawa Senators.



The Pittsburgh Penguins are the ones who have acquired his services. In exchange, Ottawa obtained goalie Filip Gustavsson, defenceman Ian Cole and a 2018 1st round pick.

Brassard has 18 goals and 38 points with the Senators this season.

UPDATE: Bob McKenzie reports the trade may be involving another team (likely Vegas) with both Ottawa and Vegas retaining salary.

FINAL UPDATE: The NHL has finally approved the trade and now Vegas has joined the trade here. The following is what each team received from the trade:

Vegas: F Ryan Reaves and a 2018 4th round pick

Pittsburgh: F Tobias Lindberg, F Vince Dunn, F Derick Brassard, and a 2018 3rd round pick.

Ottawa: D Ian Come, G  Filip Gustavsson, 2018 1st round pick and a 2019 3rd round pick.
