Philadelphia Flyers fire GM Ron Hextall

After four and a half years with the organization, the Philadelphia Flyers have fired general manager Ron Hextall.

The Flyers, who have been struggling all season are going 10-11-2 with new coach Dave Hakstol. Their last game went horrendously bad against the Toronto Maple Leafs losing 6-0 and the team have already used five goaltenders this year.

Flyers President Paul Holmgren thanked Hextall for his "many significant contributions, but it has become clear that we no longer share the same philosophical approach concerning the direction of the team, Holmgren stated.
The president added that the change was for the team, and he hopes to have a replacement general manager as soon as possible.
