We have another trade to announce, this time between the Penguins and Panthers.

The Pittsburgh Penguins have acquired Nick Bjugstad and Jared McCann from the Florida Panthers in exchange for Riley Sheahan, Derrick Brassard,  a 2019 2nd round pick (PIT), and two 2019 4th round picks (PIT and MIN).

Bjugstad has missed a large chunk of the season due to injury, but has amassed 5 goals and 12 points in 32 games so far this season. He has 3 years left on his contract with a cap hit of 4.1 million dollars.

McCann has scored 8 goals and 18 points in 46 games with Florida this year. The 22-year old has 2 years left at 1.25 million dollars per year on his current contract.

Both Sheahan (2.1 million) and Brassard (3 million) are on expiring deals, and could be getting flipped before the deadline.

Brassard has scored 9 goals and 15 points in 40 games with the Penguins this year.

Sheahan has scored 7 goals and 9 points in49 games with Pittsburgh this year.

The additional 4th round pick from Minnesota was recently acquired by the Penguins in the Jamie Oleksiak trade, which sent the defence-man back to Dallas.
