Report: Ducks to Sign Jakob Silfverberg to 5-Year Extension

Well, it looks like we can scratch one name off the trade bait list.

The Anaheim Ducks have reportedly agreed to a 5-year extension with the forward Jakob Silfverberg. The cap hit is said to be around 5.25 million per season, according to Elliotte Friedman.

Silfverberg, originally an Ottawa Senators draft pick, was sent to Anaheim in the Bobby Ryan trade. Over his 470 game career, he has scored 109 goals and 233 points between the Ducks and Senators. This year in particular, he has 16 goals and 24 points in 51 games.

Silfverberg was a player that many expected to be traded sometime between now and the trade deadline on Monday, however this new contract may just nix that plan.
