Kings Sign Fourth Rounder Markus Phillips

Earlier Tuesday the Los Angeles Kings have announced the signing of 2017 fourth round pick Markus Phillips who was selected 118th overall. The Kings signed the 20-year-old defenseman to a standard three-year entry-level contract. Phillips has split this season between the Guelph Storm and the Owen Sound Attack of the OHL putting up five goals and 21 assists for 26 points along with a plus 17 rating and 48 penalty minutes. Phillips is a decent sized d-man standing at 6 feet 0 inches and weighing just 202 pounds.

Before being moved to Guelph this year, Phillips had played 228 games for the Attack posting 28 goals along with 76 assists. He also appeared for the U-20 Canadian World Junior team this past December playing in five games while tallying three assists, he and the rest of Team Canada couldn't win themselves a medal though this past tournament. However, his Guelph Storm are now playing in the OHL Finals hoping for a championship against the Ottawa 67's who have yet to lose a game this post-season.

Here's a snipe of a shot from Phillips who can hopefully bring that shot to the Kings blueline.
