NHL Trade Rumor: Phil Kessel to the Dallas Stars

According to Josh Lile of the Dallas Morning News, the Dallas Stars are quite interested in acquiring Phil Kessel from the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Josh Lile states that the Dallas Stars are interested in Phil Kessel from the Pittsburgh Penguins. He also adds that Kessel fits perfectly within the Stars cap picture and would be a younger and better replacement for veteran Jason Spezza who will not return with the organization.

Lile suggests that the Stars could offer Radek Faksa, Valeri Nichushkin and Julius Honka as returns and Dallas would even be ready to take on Jack Johnson's hefty contract. The Stars could also keep their 2020 first rounder if they traded for Kessel and not re-sign Mats Zuccarello, who would cost them that conditional pick that would be sent to the Rangers.

Lile also stated that it would be the perfect timing since Phil Kessel's contract expires in 3 seasons, which will be the end of defenceman John Klingberg's contract.

What are your thoughts on what Dallas has to offer?
