Rumor: Brayden Point to the Rangers

On the latest episode of the 31 thoughts podcast from Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, the NHL insider mentioned he felt the Rangers could be very interested in throwing an offer sheet down south in the direction of Brayden Point.

With some cap space and the need for a star to re-build around, signing Point is certainly a risk but one that could have huge dividends if Point reaches his ceiling. At 23-years old, time will tell but Point is coming off a 92 point season and that can't be said for many 23-year-olds around the league. Friedman mentions you would have to do the over $10.5 million dollar deal to get it done but what if the Rangers only had to give up two 1st-round picks, a 2nd and a 3rd.Signing Point to a 7-year $10.5 million per deal would be an absolute steal, but even if it's 7x11, and the Rangers give up 4 1st-round picks, do you pull the trigger?
