San Jose and St Louis almost pulled off a trade that would have changed everything

For all the deals that happen, hearing stories about the deals that were close, but never finalized is just as entertaining. As the St Louis Blues and San Jose Sharks battle it out in the Western Conference finals, back in 2015, they almost pulled off a draft day trade that would have changed the landscape of both teams.

The trade, which was presented by Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman on the Hockey Night in Canada broadcast included the following players:

1. San Jose would receive Kevin Shattenkirk and TJ Oshie
2. St Louis would receive Tomas Hertl and the 9th pick, who ended up being Timo Meier

The Sharks were reluctant to include the draft pick as the team was super high on Meier, and 4 years down the road, it appears they made the right choice. Unfortunately for the Sharks at the moment, neither player plays in net.
