According to TSN’s Darren Dreger, right winger and fan favourite Phil Kessel has been traded from the Pittsburgh Penguins to the Arizona Coyotes.

Alex Galchenyuk is confirmed to be going the other way, I will continue to update when more is available.

UPDATE: No salary retained on both sides. The official deal is as follows:

to Pittsburgh: Alex Galchenyuk, Pierre-Olivier Joseph

to Arizona: Phil Kessel, Dane Birks, 4th round pick

In my opinion, good deal for both sides. Arizona gets a star winger to play opposite of Keller, and I could see a line of Keller - Schmaltz - Kessel become very scary next year. For Pittsburgh, the trend this summer continues, and cap crunched teams continue to unload high salary players. No salary retained is huge for them, as good as Kessel is. They also get Pierre-Olivier Joseph, the Coyotes 1st round pick (23rd overall) in 2017.
