BREAKING: Evgeni Kuznetsov suspended 4 years by IIHF

Washington Capitals star centreman Evgeni Kuznetsov has been suspended from national team play for 4 years after tests for cocaine came back positive.

Friday morning, the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) announced that he will be suspended until June 12th, 2023. This will prevent him from participating in the 2022 Beijing Olympics (if NHL players even go) as well as the next 3 World Championships.

Russian forward Yevgeni Kuznetsov has received a 4-year suspension from the IIHF after testing positive for a banned substance at the 2019 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship.

This suspension comes after a controversial video was released back in May showing Kuznetsov in what appears to be a hotel room with white lines on the table in front of him. After that video was leaked, Kuznetsov released the following statement:
"I have never used drugs and I am not going to get involved in this. If I have questions, I am ready to undergo a medical examination at any time,"
