Rumor: Taylor Hall Trade

There is a very good chance that Taylor Hall will be traded at the deadline this year if the New Jersey Devils are not in a playoff position. Hall is on his last year of his contract and has mentioned that he wants to be on a playoff contending team.

50% of Hall’s 6 million dollar contract can be easily retained by the Devils. With the Devils management knowing he will leave if they don’t make a playoff appearance, they would be ridiculous to give him up for nothing in July of 2020.

Possible trade destinations could be any well performing team with the ability to free up at least 3 million in cap space. Although Montreal is a highly predicted landing spot for Hall in 2020, if he’s wanting to compete in the playoffs this upcoming season, it may as a rental player. The landing spot would likely be the Florida Panthers, New York Islanders, Chicago Blackhawks, or San Jose Sharks.
