Maple Leafs' Jarnkrok A Good Fit For 2 Teams If Bought Out

Calle Jarnkrok, Toronto Maple Leafs
There is a possibility that Calle Jarnkrok gets bought out of the final year of his deal by the Toronto Maple Leafs next month for multiple reasons. He hasn't been able to stay healthy and hasn't contributed like the team would like, especially in the playoffs this year with one assist in 12 games.

Jarnkrok is going to be 33 before next season starts and the Maple Leafs are going to be bolstering their lineup. They could use the bit of extra cap space and one less player to worry about if he's going to be healthy or not. He has one year left on his contract at $2.1 million AAV, so it won't be a big hit to Toronto if he is moved on from. If that's the case, there are a couple of teams that are likely to look into signing him.

Vegas Golden Knights

The Vegas Golden Knights have more than enough space to bring in some free agents and will likely have a need to fill their bottom-6 as well with players like Reilly Smith, Tanner Pearson, Victor Olofsson, and Brandon Saad all appearing to be headed to free agency as well. All of those players were able to be signed for cheap and contributed. Jarnkrok didn't necessarily struggle in the 19 games he played during the regular season, but he did only score one goal. The Golden Knights will be on the hunt for similar type players to fill their roster if they don't run it back with a couple. Jarnkrok can play multiple positions and up and down the lineup if needed, exactly what Vegas will be wanting in a forward addition because of all of the different line combinations.

New Jersey Devils

The New Jersey Devils' GM has made it clear that there are going to be changes to the roster heading into next season. That means that most of the free agents are probably gone and some players with term left might also be swapped out. The expectation here is that the bottom-6 will be able to contribute more than it did for the majority of this season, a reason why the Devils struggled down the stretch and were eliminated fairly easily in the first round.
