Report: Anaheim and Carolina closing in on a big trade

According to Hockey Insider, Elliotte Friedman, the Carolina Hurricanes have found a suitor for defenseman Justin Faulk and are awaiting word from the player if he accepts.

The team of course, is the Anaheim Ducks who have offered at least forward Ondrej Kase and potentially a prospect or pick as well.

For Faulk, he's only ever known the Hurricanes logo and has spent a solid 8 seasons in Carolina. In 558 career games with Carolina, Faulk has eclipsed 258 points on 85 goals and 173 assists. Solid numbers of offense from the right side of the back end, and ever since Anaheim traded Sami Vatanen, they have been looking for help.

Speaking of the Ducks, Kase who is still only 23-years-old,  had a great year last season, in a shortened sample. finishing with 20 points in 30 games. The 7th-round-pick in 2014, scored 20 goals in his sophomore season and has huge offensive upside from the right wing, which is something the Canes could use.

The move would save the Canes roughly $1.7 million, and considering their cap crunch, that's a huge bonus for the club considering how good Kase could be for them.

Thoughts on the trade as it gets closer to the 11th hour?
