Rumor: Red Wings present Winnipeg with mega-offer for RFA Kyle Connor

The Winnipeg Jets can see the light at the end of their offseason tunnel as they continue to work on getting back to full compliment. With Patrik Laine signing on Friday, teams around the league are making last ditch efforts to sweep the team off their feet to part ways with Kyle Connor.

Sources connected to the General Manager of the Winnipeg Jets confirmed the team has been contacted by several executives around the league the past 48 hours, sending 'final' offers to pry the American left winger from Winnipeg. One team in particular, the Detroit Red Wings, have made a serious push in the past 24 hours.

Stevie Y and the Wings would love to pair Connor with one of his best friends in Dylan Larkin for the foreseeable future and the club has offered speedster Andreas Athanasiou, RHD Madison Bowey, and a first round pick in 2021. The deal allows for the Jets to fill Connor's spot on the left side of the second line, gives them another RHD should 'Big Buff' call it a career, and some help for the future.

While the Jets contemplate the move, the team continues to talk to Connor's camp, their full intention is to sign him to a long term extension.

Either way, expect a decision on Connor's future to be decided before Wednesday of next week.
